Happy Birthday, Aunt Marilyn!

I am so proud of you and I am thrilled that you post your thoughts on my blog! I love spending time with you!

I hope you see this before you leave on the mission trip. Our prayers are with you!

Just for fun, how bout this close up of a fly! God sure must enjoy beautiful things, as well as creepy things! His creativity is very diverse!

the smoke has cleared

The smoke has cleared, but there is still some debri left behind! James put on quite the show last night, with the help of his guy friends! Boys will be boys!

No one likes to blow stuff up as much as my hubby. The excitement around my house this last week has been hilarious, as James and Carl have shopped and planned. They must have made four trips to the friendly, neighborhood, firework distributor! The pile in our garage kept growing larger and larger! Thank goodness for discounts!

We were joined last night by 10 other adults, 3 teenagers, and 7 kiddos! I think we should’ve invited the whole town as I’m sure we had the best display going! By evenings end, we were all covered with soot and our street looked like a battle ground!

It took four guys lighting what must have been 6 to 8 big things at a time, to light up all the night stuff! CrAzY! They lit the stuff in the shop parking lot while we watched from our front lawn.

Of course, James took good care of the kiddos! They had much to keep them busy as we ate and waited for dusk.

Thanks, hon, for a wonderful evening! It was a blast! You are definitely not boring!

prosperity for generations

Karen and I were visiting one day, as we often do, about the fears we have raising children in this world. Will they make good decisions? Will they keep their eyes fixed on God or will they go their own way? She shared a scripture with me that she prays daily. It is powerful and encouraging.

The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live. Deuteronomy 30:6

This day I call heaven and earth as winesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Deuteronomy 30:19-20

While meditating on these scriptures, I was reminded of this one from Ezekiel 36:25-28

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. You will live in the land I gave your forefathers; you will be my people, and I will be you God.

I fall so short all the time. I am thankful I can turn to God and His word. I would not be able to have peace, if not for the fact, that I can pray and release myself and my children and my children’s children to Him.

She’s healed!

I took Anjelia to the doctor today to have a skin test done for the peanut allergy. A few months ago, I gave her a bite of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She immediately broke out in a bright red rash with raised white hives all around her mouth and neck. She also began clawing at her neck trying to itch her throat. I knew the reaction had to be from the peanut butter, it was the only thing she had never had before. My niece has the allergy and I knew from her experiences what happens and how severe it can be. I called poison control and gave her Benadryl. At my first appointment with the allergist, they did a blood test that surprised the doctor. It came back negative for the allergy, so they set up an appointment today to do the skin test. There was no reaction!!!!! I don’t think that was a big surprise to James, who has been telling me emphatically that she has been healed!

The doctor and nurse seemed as anxious as I was to see the results. During the fifteen minutes you must wait for the reading to be complete, they must have both come into the room 3 times each to check. The nurse said this allergy makes her feel skittish. The doctor seemed surprised and said she was very relieved to see a negative result! She asked me questions again about the allergy incident and she said it had to have been the peanut butter. It can run in families and my niece has it and the symptoms are classic to peanut allergy. I told her we took her forward at church and had her prayed over for healing and that people have been praying for her. She looked at me and paused for a second and said “That helps”.

We are still not going to give her any peanut products but much of our anxiety has been relieved. I am still going to carry an epi-pen, too. When she turns three we will challenge it. She will be admitted to the hospital and set up with an IV. They will feed her peanut butter and see what happens. Despite our caution, I do believe God healed her of the allergy!!!!!

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sins and heals all of your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies you desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:2-5
