Kenmore Krazy

Well, it finally happened! I am the proud owner of a matching, like “new”, Kenmore washer and dryer set!! This is my first matching set! (I guess I could count my harvest gold ones I used as a newlywed.)

My old washer was maxed out with four pair of blue jeans. Maybe this will help to cut back on my 14 plus loads of wash I do each week. I think I could fit all four of my kids in my new washing machine! Hmmm, that may help cut back on bath time, too. . .

Like with everything else in her life, the first thing Anjelia did when she saw the new set was walk up and lick the dryer. I wonder what information she gathers from doing that?

The obvious and fair solution to the housework problem is to let men do the housework for, say, the next six thousand years, to even things up. The trouble is that men, over the years, have developed an inflated notion of the importance of everything they do, so that before long they would turn housework into just as much of a charade as business is now. They would hire secretaries and buy computers and fly off to housework conferences in Bermuda, but they’d never clean anything. ~Dave Barry

Dave Barry has me figured out.

I’m off to Hawaii next week for a glue conference.

What a great picture! I am so excited for you. Only a housewife can be excited for anothers new washer and dryer. Anything to make cleaning and laundry not as mundane – at least till the newness wears off. Enjoy the big loads and no more water on the floor.

Thank you, Karen, for sharing in my excitement. I knew you would understand!!! Another page in my life has turned!

Hey, congratulations on your new set of washer and dryer, love the pic. of the girls. In 40 yrs. I’ve had 2 sets, both Kenmore. I enjoy the big loads. Gil is the towel washer. Sometimes I’m fussy about how things are washed or dryed, so he sticks to the towels. My next purchase will probably be a flattop range, with 2 ovens. Thanks for sharing, Julie. love you.

I would LOVE to have two ovens.

I like your new set (that sounds like another posting we just had). I love your picture of Anjelia and Elaina. They have those Price Is Right models beat, hands down.

It seems like there is always something that needs replaced, but a washer & dryer or water heater seems the most valuable to me. I know your happy. The girls are darling. My favorite sets were all Kenmore. Catch ya later, Aunt tootsie

Christie and I used to put each other in the dryer and run it a couple of turns. Now that was excitement!

The cat didn’t enjoy it as much as we did.

Good Lord!!!! If washing machines come with small children now-a-days I better make sure our current ones last forever!!!

Congrats! I remember when I had found “the exact” washer I wanted at the Sears outlet last year. I made Mike go and find a sales clerk and I wouldn’t walk away from it until she had down it was ours b/c I was afraid that another lady would see it and want it too!

I like those orange ones that Sears has that the always show on commercials during Extreme Home Makeover.

Those crazy things are $1,600 for the set!

  14. Carl V. March 18, 2005 at 1:48 pm #

Yes, but you don’t see children hanging out of them! :)

Thank you all for joining in my excitement!

I love to stand in front of my washer and watch it agitate. It’s mesmerizing.

I too love the orange Kenmore set! I am sure in a couple of years we will all be denouncing the color as out of fashion.

  17. Julie March 18, 2005 at 3:52 pm #

That’s why I think high priced, long term purchases need to be neutral in color.

Abby, I had that happen to me when I found a washer with just a little dent in it. Another sales man came in while I was about to buy it, I was still talking to the salesman. He said this lady out here wants that washer. I guess legally she had the right, but I didn’t know that then and would not let it go. I am usually very meek but it made me mad the way they were doing it and refused to give in.

Isn’t the licking thing so bizarre!? My niece must have developed immunities to everything by now! On one road trip she licked the drink dispenser at Taco Bell and an outdoor lid to a trash can! Now that’s disgusting! At least Anjelia chose something brand new!

Oooo, Ahhhh!! I’m so happy for you Julie! I would LOVE a matching set, especially because my washer and dryer are IN my kitchen right next to my stove-LOL! Most people think I’m kidding, but I’m not not. I have three major appliances right in a row (and none of them match).

  21. Julie March 19, 2005 at 10:11 am #

Maybe you need a visit from the appliance fairy, too!!

I can’t believe Punky got Spunky at Sears.

I love Karen’s story about her 18 month old taking a lick of the baby’s spit up the other day! Now that is a little over the top.

  24. Amber March 20, 2005 at 7:10 pm #

Hmmm….the appliance fairy. Now that is one fairy I have not considered yet. I bet it’s a little easier to win her favor. She probably goes by different names when she knows you are in need. Names like “Visa” and “Mastercard” I bet.

    “Discover”?

  26. Amber March 22, 2005 at 1:18 pm #

Oh, I forgot about Discover. Yes, she likes to go by that name too.
