at Rest

Jules —  May 10, 2005

I am in the middle of painting my bathroom. It seems as though it takes me FOREVER to try to accomplish a project. I like to start something and finish it right away. It drives me crazy to have to do a project in little spurts.

Uh oh, gotta go, Anjelia took her diaper off and pooped in Lydia’s room. There is a turd in the closet!!! I am thankful for older siblings who report these incidents to me!

Karen sent this quote yesterday. I need to tape it to my forehead!!!!

“Look outward and be distressed. Look inward and be depressed. Look upward and be at rest.” Corrie ten Boom

  1. And, Julie, we’re so thankful to you for reporting these incidents on to us!!! Turd in the closet–hmmmm—now that’s a visual picture to carry around the rest of the day! Thanks for the giggle!

Hope you get your bathroom done soon–wish I could come help you–I love to paint. It’s so gratifying to see the old be covered up with fresh new color. I have a friend who paints walls as a living. He said it’s like the grown up version of coloring with crayons—Taking something plain and making it beautiful! HAVE FUN COLORING!!!

  2. At least she was conscientious enough to take her diaper off and keep it clean!!!

  3. I am glad it was a turd and not a splatter. Those are so much yuckier to clean up!

  4. Reminds me of the time I got the girl across the street to babysit with Deb. She dirtied her diaper while I was gone, and it must have been the babysitters 1st one to change. She had it from one end of the crib to the other before she got her changed. I don’t think she ever babysat again, Deb tramatized her for life.

  5. Oh, my mistake, that was Trish, not Deb. Sorry Deb.

  6. Reminds me of the time I had to help a neighbor and Kandi dirtied her pants. Tommy called me to come home and change her, I said no, He changed her, but I had to clean up where he threw up. I always took her with me after that. I forgot he had a verrrrrrrry weak tummy.

  7. James can’t do puke. We had a lot of puking this winter. Fortunately, they seem to get sick in shifts, two at a time. It would be bad if all four were puking at the same time!!

I worked (I mean away from home) for a couple of months this winter. One night, I was gone and Lydia threw up all over the chair. James managed to get it cleaned up and steam cleaned. He gagged the whole time!

During another sick spell, Elaina threw up all the way home from mom’s house one night. That’s bad being shut up in a car with that smell. James drove fast!!

When your a dad you can have a weak tummy. What if a mom couldn’t change diapers. What do you do? Vomit several times a day for three years?

    Cute story!!!

  8. Is it safe for me to come home from work now?

  9. All clear, no poop, no puke!

  10. My guy had a weak stomach, if one of the girls had a dirty diaper, it got changed after I got back home.

  11. Chris tried that when we brought Sarah home. He said she was too little to change!!! That didn’t take. He is very good at it now. Although now we are just wiping. How long does it take them to get the art of wiping properly down?

  12. oh yea,
Thanks mom for airing all my dirty laundry on the site. hehehe

  13. The wiping thing seems to take a few years. My school girls can do a decent job on their own now. Elaina has a tiny bladder and has accidents a lot. If she wipes on her own it can be really messy!! I tell her to please call for me if she poops.

This is such funny conversation. Very momish!!!

  14. I have color on my walls now!!! The green looks really good. I am going to try to get the bronze metallic top coat on today. I’m very curious how it will look!!

My wallpaper came in the mail!!!

I can’t wait to put it up!!!

  15. Julie, here is a quote for the Mom in you:

The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life. Robert Louis Stevenson, (1850-1894)

  16. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. I forgot about this funny puke story. We were at mom’s for dinner and Kandi and Ian were down. The table was all set and the kids were in their seats. We all sat down and Elaina threw up on her plate!!! Not an appetizing way to start a meal!!!

  18. Mary, Awesome quote!!! I am writing that down and putting where I can see it. It really encouraged me today.

  19. It’s the best thing I’ve ran across for some time! Good enough for the kitchen cabinet!

  20. I love to read the scriptures (etc) that you have on your cabinets, Julie! They are always so encouraging.

  21. Julie, I love all your funny mom stories! They crack me up–the puking, the pooping! I can’t wait!

  22. I think it’s much more work than I imagined it would be but it’s also more fun and fulfilling than I expected!!!

    You’re going to love it!!!
