Butt Prints In The Sand

Jules —  March 30, 2005

One night, I had a wondrous dream;
One set of footprints there was seen.
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.
But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, “What have we here?”
“Those prints are large and round and neat,
But, Lord, they are too big for feet.”
“My child,” He said in somber tones.
“For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait.
You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of-faith you would not know.
So I got tired and fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt,
Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand.”

  1. We gots us one funny pastor!

  2. Some ‘prints’ are larger than others, but God loves us all the same, thank goodness!

  3. Sorry, guys! You know I am a great admirer of tacky things! I couldn’t resist this one!

Seriously, I like the message, too. The time of being a spiritual weinie has passed. No more butt prints!!!

  4. Of course, there are times when God carries us and we can learn a lot during those times. It’s a wonderful thing! However, He knows when we are ready to be put down. At that point, it’s our decision to get up and walk in faith. Even when we do that, we do it with His strength.

This silly little poem has got me to thinkin. Hope I don’t sound preachy. I am thinkin about myself here. Sharing some of my thoughts.

God meets us at our level! He knows He can speak to me through tacky things and I will enjoy it!!!

  5. That was great! Made me laugh and made me think all at the same time.

I think sometimes my print in the sand is Him dragging my butt!

  6. Would that be called a skid mark?

  7. Thanks for telling me I don’t have a “ginormous” butt Tuesday night-HA! However……..I think I could make a significant mark in the sand right about now :-)

Thanks Julie! You make me laugh once again.

  8. We won’t talk about the various sizes of our pot holes that we leave behind! Maybe that’s how we trip others up! They step and fall in our butt prints!

  9. lol!!!!!!

  10. Julie, looked back at this from a year ago. It is
great. Love the skid mark remark! You don’t have
to put this on the current blog place just browsing.
