Happy Birthday, Jessica Faith!!

Today we are celebrating Jessica’s 8th birthday!! She is having two girlfriends over tonight for a sleep over. I am so excited!!! I can’t wait ’till the girls get here. We are going to have so much fun!

Do you think I purchased a big enough balloon? The sales gal at Party America told me to never throw away a mylar balloon. People save them and bring them in and they refill them for free! She said some people come in with a grocery bag full of old balloons and have them refilled. I did not know this. I’ve thrown away so many balloons! I am so excited about this bit of knowledge. I thought you may be too!

kindergarten preparations

Elaina is ecstatic about the idea of starting kindergarten. Her eyes were as big as saucers at kindergarten information night. She toured a classroom and even got to go on a little bus ride! She’s going to go to pre-kindergarten summer school in June. All the girls have loved the pre-k summer program.

Elaina on her first bus ride!

She’s so excited that she couldn’t wait to get her shots. Anything that is preparation for kindergarten excites her.

She excitedly wiggled and squirmed on the table while waiting for the Dr. She’s in her favorite attire — her Superman pajamas. She wears them every night. Before our appointment, she had her Mother’s Day Out slumber party. She got to wear her favorite pjs and since her Dr. appointment was right after school, she wore her pajamas to her check up.

Grandpa D. saves a pair of jammies from each of his grandkids. On a recent overnight, he tried to keep the Superman pajamas, but after a call from Elaina he brought them back the next day. It was very funny. We all got a good laugh out of it. Elaina told him he could have them after she gets her spring pair of Superman jammies. It’s getting pretty warm here so I’ll bet we’ll be shopping soon!

Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Mom and Jessica on Grandparent’s Day at school.

Lydia left this birthday greeting for Grandma before heading off to school! Mom stopped by this morning and got a kick out of her birthday wishes.

Auction wheels

Larry bought a new truck for Mom to take to auctions! Do you think Mom’s auction treasures will fit in there? Hehe!!

this age worms the heart

Anjelia has discovered the joy of worms! She’s been keeping a little one in a bowl full of dirt. Today she found a gasoline can and mistook it for a watering can. After “watering” my daffodils with gasoline, several giant earthworms came up out of the ground gasping for air. I rinsed them off over and over until the smell of gasoline was gone and she happily skipped away with her bowl full of worms. She sits and talks to them and tells them how beautiful they are! Silly girl!!!

A three year old child is a being who gets almost as much fun out of a fifty-six dollar set of swings as it does out of finding a small green worm.” Bill Vaughn

Addicted to daddy

Our five year old, Elaina Joy, is addicted to her Daddy. She dotes over him constantly. If he’s around, she’s by his side. It’s even hard to keep her in her own bed at night. She constantly tries to sneak ever so slowly and carefully into our bed so she can be by her Daddy. Last night when he got home from work and sat down, I watched her sit and kiss his cheek over and over again and tell him, ” I wuv you”. It really is the sweetest thing.

Yesterday Elaina wanted to call her Daddy. For the first time I let her dial the phone herself. She studied the numbers carefully as I told her which ones to push. I didn’t realize what an exciting and serious situation this was to her. What could be better than a constant lifeline to her Daddy? After she hung up, I went about doing some things in the kitchen. A few minutes later, she came walking through the kitchen talking on the phone. She had called her Daddy back. Altogether she called him three different times. I told her she needs to ask before she calls him because Daddy is busy and has work to do.

This morning I walked into my bedroom to find Elaina hiding while dialing the phone. She looked like she’d been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Her excuse through pouty lips: “I didn’t get to give Daddy a kiss goodbye.”

more fun than ever!

The only thing more fun than being a kid at Christmas is being a parent of four young children at Christmas! I am so happy that we are a family of six. It’s the ultimate in fun!!!

Lydia and Jessica were up at 5 a.m. We told them they had to wait quietly, keep their hands off of the loot, and wake us when the sun comes up!

Please say a prayer for Louise and her family. Louise and her husband George are very, very close, lifelong friends of Richard and Janet (James’ parents). George passed away 8:30 am Sunday morning in his home. Their church had service in their living room surrounding George. It sounds like it was a special time. I know Louise would appreciate your prayers. She has known George her entire life. They grew up together and were even born in the same home. They have been married many, many years. You’re in our prayers Louise. (Louise made the girls THESE matching Christmas dresses last year)

Saturday evening we put a contract on a house!! I would appreciate your prayers for us. It’s a DREAM home!! I will tell more later. I have three days to get my home ready for the agent to come over to see it and take pictures. It will go on the market soon after that. I have soooooooooooooooo much to do. She told us to put half of the things in our home in storage. We have to paint two rooms and move our bedroom back to the play room. I feel a little in over my head. Plus, the whole thing needs to be cleaned — carpets, windows and all. I doubt I sleep this week! James is going to try to work from home Wednesday and Thursday so he can help me. I hope our home sells quickly. Our purchase of the new home is contingent on us selling our home. If he has a cash buyer come along they can take it from us. Pray that I’ll have much energy and enthusiasm with all the work ahead of me. I also want to not feel stressed and anxious. I’d like the home to remain peaceful. I doubt you’ll see me on the blogs this week. Thanks for the prayers. This is a HUGE deal to our family and something that’s greatly needed!

Mother’s day out Christmas program

her cuteness

Anjelia was very tired today. She usually does not nap, but after rocking her for quite awhile I decided she needed to sleep a little. After about an hour, I went in to check on her. She wasn’t in her bed or Elaina’s. I found her sleeping in a small plastic container. She had her blankie, Rosy and a Christmas pillow. (I wish you could see her outfit that she wears everyday–panties and snowboots. She just got a new pair of boots and wore them all day.) She looked so cute; I called James and had him come home to see her. After a difficult day, I was so blessed by her cuteness.

Snow girls

Seasons greetings!

I have neglected my blog for some time now, but I am hoping this will be a fresh start for regular postings.

My friend Carl has an easy Christmas Challenge that I’m participating in. Click HERE for the details. I would love for you to do this on your blogs, as well. I am going to start out with just one tonight under the category of traditions.
