freaky friday!

Friday marked the  last day of school! Tradition had us spending the afternoon with Grandma D at her country home. As usual she had the camp fire going and the picnic table next to her pond covered with a spread of yummy food. It was a cool, drizzly, relaxing afternoon with several odd occurrences.

The girls sat on this rock and fed bread to grandpa’s huge “pet” catfishies.

While Anjelia and her friend were feeding / petting grandpa’s catfish, they were also playing with their beloved zoobles from their McDonald’s happy meals.

Anjelia dropped both of her zoobles into the pond! We grabbed an umbrella and quickly retrieved one. Luckily they floated like bobbers. Unfortunately a big catfish, perhaps this one, ATE THE OTHER ZOOBLE!!!! Yes, I kid you not, he opened his big mouth and GULP!

Anjelia bitterly wept. This was a new toy and a really cool one at that. She was so heartbroken that a CATFISH had eaten her toy. That is a new kind of tragedy for us!

The umbrella went missing later on in the afternoon. We finally found it!

The umbrella was found shortly before or maybe it was after Elaina fell on top of the camp fire! Yes, she tripped and fell right on top of it. I picked her up. . . quickly. Mom time quick. . . which is similar to the speed of light, or something like that. She wasn’t hurt or burned, not a bit!!!!!!

To top off our afternoon of oddities, Jessica found a sea horse shaped Cheeto!!!!

  1. Lydia’s friend caught five fish, too. I’ve now had a refresher course in hook removal without getting finned!

  2. I’m so glad that you are back to writing. I like reading your stories!

I got texts all day long at work with the play-by-play. Everyone at work enjoyed the updates!

  3. Sounds like a wonderful afternoon. Someone may catch that zooble
eating catfish someday, then she can get her zooble back. I thought they were balls til I enlarged the pic. Cute little toy.
Love reading about your adventures and seeing your pic.

    • They are balls and then you press down and they become cute little creatures. It was in ball form when the catfish ate it. I think the poor fish will probably die. Hopefully he spit it out, but we kept walking around the pond and didn’t see it.

  4. Fun! Keep growin’ them catfish! They can get so big, they look scary just comin’ up to feed – I’ve seen in just ponds heads that looked like a foot across!

    • I’m curious just how big these fish will get. They are not fished. Richard’s heart wouldn’t be able to take it. They really are pets.

  5. Sounds like a really fun day. Glad the rain didn’t spoil it for you. I’m so glad that no one caught on fire. I was imagining you running and picking her up like the time you were about 8 months pregnant and running and diving into the pool after Jessica.

    • I’m sore all over again just thinking about that! Big bellied pregnant women are not supposed to fly up from sitting on the ground and sprint and jump all within three seconds. Yikes!

I keep thinking of that song, “I will walk through the fire and not be burned” or something like that. You know the one?

  6. Haha, Jessika told me about her Cheeto!! :)

  7. Finally, you did lots of fun on grandma’s pond. Your grandma’s pond is really nice. A? It is a big source of home picnic. Recently, I also built small pond. I sealed off it by applying Liquid Form EPDM Pond Liners.
