September 5, 2001 was most definitely one of the most incredible of days for James and I. After 17 hours of labor, our little Elaina Joy was born at 8:05 pm, weighing in at 8 lbs 3 oz. It is fun to remininsce! I am reminded today that Jessica came back home on this day 4 years ago, too! Dual miracles!
Saturday afternoon we threw a little surprise party for Elaina. She spent Friday night at Mom’s. She was surprised when she walked through the door with a room full of people singing Happy Birthday!! She stood there shocked, trying to process what was happening! She thought Mom and Larry were just bringing her home.
Princesses were the theme of her party. She loves princesses and she loves the idea of being a princess. Her favorite color is pink and she has a fondness for monkeys, too! She likes to tease and she often calls us booger knockers and turkey piggies in hopes of being tickled.
Elaina is our little miss happy pants, the world is a playground, silly girl! She definitely lives up to her middle name, Joy!!! She’s glad to be four years old and she says she wants to stay four forever! I can’t tell you how much fun and silliness she adds to our home. Now that the big girls are back in school, I’ve enjoyed having my baby back all to myself!
One thing that I can’t do without when it comes to birthday parties or any celebration is my Creamy Pink Punch. It’s the best punch recipe EVER! It was handed down to me at a baby shower several years ago. It’s dessert in a glass! You will LOVE this!
Creamy Pink Punch
1 gallon raspberry sherbert
1 quart vanilla ice cream
1 quart cranberry/raspberry juice
1 quart club soda
1 quart 7-up
Soften ice cream and sherbert. Add cranberry/raspberry drink. Using a wire whisk, blend until smooth. Add club soda and 7-up.
For a small party I half the recipe. This yields a large amount.
