i thought my bunny was dead. . .

Jules —  April 9, 2008

but she was just really sound asleep. I had to shake her twice to wake her up!

You just never know what your going to find in our home.

Elaina came to me complaining of an ear ache. I felt a little freaked out when I saw something white way down deep in her ear. Fortunately, our doctor friend, Jeff, was over. Between James, the ex-nurse, and Jeff, the chiropractor, the procedure was a success. Jeff pulled out a BIG wad of paper from way down in Elaina’s ear. The amazing thing is she didn’t know how it got there!!!!!! (later she confessed to James that she had an itch and apparently she thought paper would reach it!)

Rosie Posie joined us for our family movie night. She stretched out and took it all in! She LOVED The Sound of Music!

After a week and a half of the stomach flu, I’m hoping we’re done!!! Lydia threw up in front of her class last week and she has had so much anxiety about it that everytime we’ve taken her back to school she gets so worried that she throws up again. Aren’t traumatic childhood moments terrible?!!! Poor baby.

Jessica turned NINE Saturday. Thank you for your birthday wishes. Last week was a difficult week and by Friday I had a bit of a breakdown. I’m sorry I’ve been out of touch. Thank you, James, for helping me recover from insanity! I can’t wait for sunny, 70 degree days!!!!!!!

Bonus pic:

For my Mom’s birthday I wanted to treat her to lunch at Countryside restaurant. Mom and Dad D planned on taking Aunt Kathryn out for her birthday — same time, same place. We joined up and had a relaxing and fun lunch! Isn’t family awesome!

The school nurse just called and I cringed. Who threw up now?! Elaina peed her pants and I’m relieved!!!!

  1. Dang, that is one snuggly kitty!

    Happy b-day Jessica!

  2. Oh Julie, you make me laugh! I am at work and got to the end of your story about Elaina and I let out a big chuckle -the people in the store probably think I’m touched! When I was in 1st grade I wet my pants-the teacher hung them in a closet and she sent a little boy to the closet for a rag and yup! he returned with my panties, thinking they were a rag! It was very tramatic for me but funny now!

I too am ready for some nice weather!

  3. Oh Vicki, now that’s childhood trauma!!! How funny!

    Rob, kids create wonderful cats.

  4. Elaina peed her pants….sorry, but that is too funny!! I’m sure that every time the phone rings you must jump and say “What now!”

Cute bunny pics…what bunny wouldn’t enjoy the Sound of Music!

  5. Lydia made it through the day!!!! James made her go to school. He walked her in and talked to the teacher. He said she needed to tough it out even if she made herself sick. She made him a thank you card, thanking him for making her be brave and go to school. She’s soooooo happy and her stress is gone. Sometimes the tough love of a dad is all it takes to turn things around!

  6. I asked James to take her cuz it’s hard for a mom when your child is crying really hard and begging you not to make her go. She just KNEW she’d throw up. She said she can’t wait to go back to school tomorrow!

  7. You scared me. I thought you were going to say he was dead. That bunny has the life of riley. I love bunnys.

Poor Elaina, I wet mine at school in the second grade, I know how she feels. But I did not have the bad luck she had. I’d have been sick too. I was more afraid of mama and daddy. But they were not mad. The teacher would not let me go.

  8. The art teacher didn’t let her go when she asked. I am surprised she didn’t call and apologize. The PE teacher didn’t let Jessica go in first grade cuz Jessica asked at a bad time and she called and apologized and was worried about Jessica being mortified. I like the art teacher, so I didn’t call and say anything to her. I’m sure she will listen next time Elaina says she has to go. I’ve told all the girls if you have to go desperately and a teacher tells you no that you go anyway and I’ll deal with the teacher if you get in trouble.

Sorry to scare you about Rosie. I love having a bunny. They are so fun. I am going to get her a neutered hus-bun soon. She needs someone warm to snuggle with at night!!

I threw up in class in the 3rd grade. I realized I was going to get sick and just started to leave the room, only made it half way out. Teacher made me clean it up too.

Love to see new pic of your family and animals. Glad you got the paper out of Elaina’s ear. YOur aunt Linda put bean’s up her nose one time. I think they were there long enough to swell up. I can remember Mom trying to get them out.

I’m suprised that Nita is not laughing in her birthday picture. Bet she had a good time and enjoyed the good company.

Sorry about Lydia’s problems getting back into class after her illness. But glad she has overcome it.

We all have melt downs at some time or another. I’ve had my share. Your a great mom and wonderful wife, Julie.

Jessica, I’m so sorry I’m late wishing you a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY. You are a special young lady.

  12. That mean ole teacher made you clean it up! That’s sad.

Thanks for your encouragement. I described it as “a bit of a breakdown”, but it was really a full blown meltdown!

I’d say you are in need of a girls week-end now. I’m hoping it will be as fun as I think it will.

  14. Nice to see a post from you! Thanks for sharing all your stories and pictures. Happy Birthday, Jessica (and Lydia soon!).

  15. Hey Jules! I’m so happy your bunny is alive!

I peed my pants in kindergarten. There was a substitute teacher, and I was too scared to ask her. She had said we couldn’t talk, and I thought that applied to speaking with her as well!

I love your advice that if the teacher says no that they can just go anyway! You’re such a good mom!

  16. Jules, Thank you for this blog. The bunny would have scared me too if you had to shake it twice!
I know the stresses of having four children and
all the needs, I’m glad you got each other to count on. Girl Time will be great. Take Care.
