Minnie Winnies and 35 years

I am so thankful to have such loving in-laws, Janet and Richard. This week they are celebrating their 35 wedding anniversary! Their marriage is a true example of loving commitment. I am so fortunate to have in-laws that treat me like a daughter and they so much deserve to be recognized for their marriage and life together. They often mentor young couples and singles, for they have much wisdom to share.

Janet and Richard posed a year or so ago in front of their old highschool where they fell in love. Fortunately, they took the pictures just in time. It wasn’t long ago that the school was demolished.

One of their favorite things to do together is to go out of town in their RV. Just a few weeks ago, they traded in their fifth wheel for this little beauty. I love the name, Minnie Winnie!

Janet and Richard are quirky but in a fun way! It’s always entertaining to find out where they are sleeping! When the weather is nice they like to sleep outside or on their screened in porch. In the winter they spend their nights on the floor in front of the wood stove. Since they drove home their new little beauty, they have spent their nights in it, parked in the driveway! Aren’t they cute!

On James’ birthday we had dinner with Janet and Richard and then we drove to their good friend, Marge’s pool. Guess what we road in? Yep, the Minnie Winnie! It was hilariously fun and the girls had a blast!

Lydia is intentionally crossing her eyes! Thought I’d point that out!

Here we are in the hot tub after our swim!

Mom and Dad, we love you so much and are so thankful for who you are and all you do. We are proud of you.

  1. Happy Anniversary mom and dad! I hope you guys are having a very relaxing time.

  2. A friend of mine told me that she is going away this weekend with her husband to see if they were going to renew their contract. When they got married they decided that the only day out of the year they could decide to break their marriage “contract” was on their anniversary! She said she’d probably sign up for another year, making it 35 years!
They are so cute and still in love!

  3. Happy Anniversary!!!

  9. I woke up on Saturday morning at 5:30am. One of the habits I have at that time is to check e-mails or go to Julie’s “Percolations”. To my surprise I see our wedding picture :love :love. My heart was so over joyed that I broke out with tears. :cry Our Julie is the daughter-in-law I prayed for when our son was a baby. Our wedding took place a few blocks from our Highschool.
Thank-you Julie for the most wonderful Anniversary gift. Others said wonderful things about us. We are blessed.
Yes Karen, you and Tom will always be special in our lives.

  14. Janet, you look so cute in your wedding dress, but I absolutely love the picture of you and Richard leaning against the school. Janet, you still look like a fit young bride in your stylish jeans. :worship I hope I look as good on my 35th wedding anniversary.

  15. Thank-you Mary for the compliment.
    Also Kandis for the encouragment.

  16. I love Richard and Janet! They’re such cool people. I loved working for Richard at Alco years ago. Those were good summers. And assistent coaching volleyball with Janet was a big blast. Janet, remember spike training? That was so much fun. I loved those years. I’ve been playing volleyball ever since, thanks to you guys.

by the way, why are they called “5th wheels?” Don’t they have more wheels than that? :-)

  17. Rob,
Thanks for your comments. Spike training!!!! You got a lot of exercise and PRACTICE!!!! T

  18. God. #9 makes me want to fist pump! I like to call those really trrbiely designed and often over-the-top websites MySpace sites. Remember the animated, dancing, glittering puppies and horrific backgrounds? So many websites feel like that, and it’s a huge turn off. What goes through my mind:1) The blogger knows nothing.2) The blogger knows nothing ABOUT WEB DESIGN (assuming the posts and other content are good). It’s a sad state of affairs when a good website is skipped over because of bad design. Hopefully your post will help new bloggers learn that! Thanks for your insights.
