mom devotion

Jules —  August 21, 2006

Karen sent me this timely devotion this morning. I thought this would be a good follow up to the previous post and a source of encouragement for the mamas. Click on the link below.

“Mother of the Year”

Deuteronomy 11: 18-21,Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the Lord swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.” (NIV)

  1. I really found this encouraging since we were just discussing this very phenomenon that we all experience as Mommy’s without brains!

It’s nice to be reminded of how our heavenly Father sees us.

  2. Even I enjoyed reading that and was encouraged. Some how I think we remember the wrong things we think we did and don’t linger long enough on all the things we did right. Maybe you mom’s need to start a “Right Things journal” now, to help you remember the good things. You may think ” I’ll never forget that” but you’ll be glad to have it at my age to look back on.

  3. Karen that lifted me up high!
    Made me high!

  4. I LOVE this verse. I have a small poster of it on the side of my fridge.

I’ve thought about stenciling favorite verses or references around some of my rooms but thought that may be too legalistic. The Pharisees walked around with those little boxes tied on their heads with Scriptures written in them (probably because of this verse)….and you know what Jesus thought of them! Hmmm….

  5. The pharisees were always doing things to draw attention to themselves, tootin their own horn trying to act so pious and religious. Your motives would be different than theirs. I’ve seen pic of peoples homes who do that. Looks neat.

  6. Thanks for the encouragement, Mom….I may go ahead and do it…someday. (Unfortunately I’ve got a looooong “someday” list)

  7. I enjoyed the story too. We all do the best we can. I also love this verse.

Jules I put the recipe on. Have a nice evening, I’m hitting the hay. Love ya’s

  8. Aunt Marlis, I must be missing something–I don’t see the recipe :cry

Y’all pray for Connor tomorrow–he’s getting braces on his teeth and I expect he’s gonna be hurting for a few days. :banghead

  9. I think she meant she put it on her blog. :rotfl

Poor Connor. Keep us updated on how he’s doing.

  10. I found the recipe–my computer was not bringing up Aunt Tootsie’s updated site.

Connor did well getting his braces. You can pick the color of the metal brackets now. So for the next year or so, I have to look at a smiling green mouth! He picked neon green! Everytime I look at him, he looks like he’s got a clump of broccoli jammed in his teeth! :rotfl

  11. Give him a hug for GMA & GPA any way, can’t wait to see his green mouth.

  12. Hi conner this is your cousin tyler i was just going to say i hope you werent in pain when you got your braces well bye,bye :p :p :p :angel :flowers

  13. Hi Tyler!!! Welcome! I’m glad you posted. How’s your leg feeling? :eek

  14. Hey Tyler, how you doing? I guess if your riding with Grandpa, then you have pretty much recovered. Great! We’re wanting you young one’s to comment on our blogs. After all it’s kind of a family affair. Hope to see more of ya. OK??????

  15. Tyler, Connor spent the nite at his grandma’s house last night so he hasn’t seen your post yet. Hope your leg has healed up.

  16. Yes, Tyler, I was in pain. A lot! :cry :cry
    But it’s better now! 😀

  17. Hi all, Tyler has been busy all today and didn’t get on the commputer, and yesterday he was banned because he was in trouble. Tommorrow he will be here and I’ll have him read and respond.

  18. Julie, is everything ok up there? I tried to call Nita last night and got a recording. I thought that unusual for a cell phone, she usually has it with her. Maybe they went to bed early.

  19. Love the verse…reminds me of my friend Sherri,
she took excellent pictures and put verses on them in her home and I always loved it! I put one on the girls mirror that said” a pig with a gold ring is like a beautiful woman with a bad spirit” not exactly word for word but close.

  20. Hello, any one home? :cry I think they moved out of state. :eek I hope you all are OK!!!!!!!!!

  21. Kelli’s BACK–yeah!!! We’ve missed you.

Now if we can just get Kathryn and Jules back on regularly :band

  22. Is Kathy feeling better now? Kelli had it too, glad your back at visiting us. I want all my sis’s on here everyday. I’m nosey you know. :evil How is Alex’s brother? Have’nt heard lately, I take it he is home now.

  23. Julie, hope you’ve been missing only because you’ve been spending time with your family–hope everyone is well. We’ve had colds going round and round here, Gma included.

  24. We want Julie, we want Julie, we need new input, we need new input, hope you all are OK. I know your busy, but we’re tired of the boogers.

  25. I am so sorry I’ve neglected my blog. I promise I’ll start doing better.

If you are ready for a change from boogers, how about a picture of a toilet full of toilet paper! Us Mom’s with little kids are so gross! Karen just did a post about diarreah!

We are going to Daddy’s in a bit. We spent the morning at Beth’s for Emily’s 7th birthday. James and the girls are camping in tent at Daddy’s tonight.

  26. Hi sweetie, OK we know your still around and love you. Was worried about you. Well, stools is fine, we can relate to that.

Tell Beth hi and have fun.

  27. okkkk okkkkk I am tired of everyone talking about my boogers behind my back……
    Thats it….
I guess I will have to post a new post to shut everyone up!
I guess I will make it really gross, just like what I found under Ian’s futon….
