my big day

Jules —  June 25, 2009

I celebrated my birthday yesterday! James gave me the best gift; he took the day off to spend with me!

We started the day with swim team pics.

I took the girls to lunch at my favorite lunch place, Olive Garden. They had never been there before.

We had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa D joining us! They didn’t know it but I’ve been wishing for this tin wall hanging for my kitchen!

Mom D, Lydia, Jessica, Elaina, Tori, Alyssa with Mary in front.

After lunch we headed for the theatre where Mary, Tori and Alyssa hooked up with us. We watched the new Disney-Pixar movie, UP. This movie is a must-see. It is such a touching tribute to life.

Mom and Dad D took the girls swimming after the movie, while James and I headed off to spend a little time alone. We went to a really awesome worship center to relax for a bit. This is a 24 hour a day worship and prayer room. It hasn’t stopped for ten + years. Even at three in the morning there’s at least a guitarist playing, singing and worshiping. The music doesn’t even stop when they switch bands every two hours. It’s such a blessing to have close by. I love the multi-cultural feel as people from all over the world visit.

We finished up the day with coffee and a croissant from Panera and a little shopping. It was a nice birthday spent with my family.

And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. ~Abraham Lincoln

Did your mom in law give you the coffee sign? Really cool, love it.

  9. Yes, it was a gift.

At the worship center they take a few minutes each session to intercede for a specific topic like the youth of our city or Supreme Court nominee Sonya Sotomeyer. They will read scriptures and pray for Ms Sotomeyer and then sing something like, “may her judgements be righteous” and then they pray for the Latino communities across America. Amazing! They have also prayed for the unborn across our nation while we were there. I’m sure they cover lots of topics in prayer and worship.

  10. What a nice Birthday!
Olive Garden is one of my favs too!

  11. Sounds like a very relaxing day! Happy belated birthday!

  13. We love Julie so very much and being with the whole family on her special day meant a great deal for us. She is always a delight to be around and gets me laughing.:)

  14. Happy belated birthday Julie!

  15. Julie, Happy Birthday! Sounds like a wonderful joy-filled day you had.

  16. Lar and I go to Olive Garden sometimes to ONLY eat soup, salad and the breadsticks…..That is all we enjoy there. yum yum…

  17. I enjoy spending time with you, too, Mom D!!

Thanks everyone for the birthday greeting!

I also like the raviolo stuffed with portabello mushroom in a smokey cheese sauce. It’s delicious, but I usually get the soup and salad. It’s cheaper and paying to eat out stresses me a little. I hate to spend too much.

  18. I can’t believe that R & J bought you that sign! I just cracked up over that. I LOVE IT!!!! Did they get it at that little antique shop?

I’m glad you had a wonderful birthday. It sounds like time well spent and very enjoyable. I look forward to celebrating a bit more on Thursday.

  19. Happy Birthday! Love the Olive Garden, yum!

  20. Jules, yes I keep cool in the Pool. Especially after getting the yard mowed. It really feels great then. I swim during the day and let the kids have it at night.

  21. I want to go to the Worship Center some day, love the sound of it! I love Olive Garden and shopping and movies too! Alexis and I went to see UP and I cried, but it’s funny too. Teaches kids about life and important things. Love ya Jules, you’re blessed! The card I got Kathy had Abraham’s quote on it.

  22. I cannot wait until our next girls weekend!

Jules, will you email me about where this worship center is. They have talked about it in our S. S. class and I just wonder if it is the same place. Sounds like a place for us to visit on our next Girls Week-end when we have it in your area. I would love to go.

  24. Hi Jules:
    Kan

  25. Jules it was so nice to see you and the girls today. They looked so cute. After the ride home I’m doing better and don’t need my cane. It just comes and goes like that.

Your mom thought we might not be able to make as much noise as us girls like to at that place. It was nice.

Jules, we was reading the paper from Marlis’ town and it had a large article in there about that praise IHOP place. I got a lot of info from it. We will be looking forward to the back to school post.

  30. Was the article positive or negative or just the facts?
