number 10, duct tape and converse

Jessica had braces put on her teeth two days before her birthday

Jessica is now a double digit kid after turning 10 this weekend! It’s Tuesday and I am beginning to feel back to normal after her slumber party, birthday bash Friday night! Jessica had six girlfriends over for her sleepover. Ten kids made the night a busy blast! The girls settled down and seemed to be falling asleep at 4 am only to be up and going strong at 8! I know they would’ve stayed up all night if I had let them. I wanted their moms (my friends) to still like me the next day!

Duct tape fashion designing

For those of you with tweens and teens, I highly recommend stocking up on some multi-colored duct tape! The girls spent hours making duct tape bracelets, wallets and purses. Duct tape now comes in every color imaginable!

Jessica has been dreaming of owning her very own pair of black, high top Converse. Her dream was realized Sunday when we took her shopping at the mall. She also picked out three pair of neon shoelaces in pink, green and orange. We stopped off at Claire’s and Hot Topic to accessorize.

Showing off her new Converse and some really funky socks!

Happy Birthday, Jessica! You’re a girl with style!

Wow! Those socks almost knocked me out. I bought a pair of really long socks the other day but don’t hold a candle to hers. I saw that duct tape in a store the other day, It is really bright. I remember the days of those bunking parties.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSICA.

I ordered Larry a duct tape wallet. it is a real wallet with nice accents and lots of card holder slots…It ia a real wallet and seems real strong. “it is in the top drawer of his dresser”. It is the standard silver type duct. It looks like a real wallet and made quite well….It has nice gold rivets and stuff but nicely done.
I ordered it off a duct tape website that makes duct tape purses and stuff…Maybe Grandma tootsie can find duct tape purse directions…

Happy Birthday, Debbie! We were thinking of you, too. I was going to give your birthday a shot out when I wrote the post and forgot. (i was in a hurry)

I’ve been meaning to search the internet for instructions. The girls just made up their own and they did really well. Their creations amazed me. When Jessica was shopping at Hot Topic (a hip, punk-like store) the cashier went on and on about her purse and wallet and how he wished he knew how to make himself a duct tape wallet. I think he made Jessica feel good.

Tori, taught Jessica how to make the bracelets one night and she is good friends with Jessica’s friend, Olivia’s, brothers. So several of the girls already knew how to make stuff because of Tori. (our long time teen friend and babysitter)
