Oil Of Gladness

Jules —  May 1, 2006

Changes are coming, dear one. A merry heart heals like deep medicine. I AM opening the lid off the bottle and going to pour My oil of gladness upon you. Make merry and be glad. Sing in good cheer. Laugh in your prayers and enjoy My Presence. Your Papa is in the house and I AM smiling upon My children. I AM coming to save the sick and raise them up with the oil of gladness.

Ps 45:7 NKJV
You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

Ps 45:6-7 NLT
Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. Your royal power is expressed in justice. You love what is right and hate what is wrong. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.

I have been a lazy blogger. James and I were hit again by some weird stomach flu. I feel like we have had a good, healthy year overall, but these tummy bugs keep attacking us. Fortunately they have just lasted a couple of days per person. The kids are fine. I’ve been praying over them! God is good. Elaina gets to go on a Mother’s Day Out field trip tomorrow. She’s so excited to tour McDonald’s!!! I am thankful she isn’t sick.

So many have had sickness and health problems. I thought this was an encouraging word and scriptures to share!!!

My cousin Trish’s birthday is today. She is a wife and prego mom of two (well, technically three) and she’s an RN and works at a hospital. I want all my friends to see my beautiful cousin and her family. ClickHERE to check out my cousin Kandis’ birthday tribute to Trish. Trish, I can’t wait to see you soon!

I’ve been saving this poem for a post. Now is as good a time as ever! I really enjoy Maya Angelou. Everytime I read this I can hear her beautiful voice.

Christian

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting “I’m clean livin.”
I’m whispering “I was lost,”
Now I’m found and forgiven.

When I say…”I am a Christian”
I don’t speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I’m weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success.
I’m admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not holier than thou,
I’m just a simple sinner
who received God’s good grace, somehow.

  1. Oh I really love that poem. Very nice post Jules. I’m going to have to write that poem down.
I’m sorry you two have been sick again. Maybe you need to spray some Lysol all around the house, or just open it wide open to kind of get that nasty thing out so it don’t keep going around. It’s trapped in the house. You all take care and stay well now, ya hear.

  2. Sorry you all have been sick again! :puke

NO FUN! Glad the kids are good, though. It makes it rough to be sick and take care of sick little ones.

Love the poem! That’s really good. So very true!

  3. I’m glad you guys enjoyed the poem!

We never threw up but I sure wanted to. Thursday I had to lie down with my eyes closed. If I moved or opened my eyes the room would swim and I would get so nausiated that I would get that clammy, sweaty, lump in my throat feeling and go sit in the bathroom. Anjelia kept pushing and pulling and hitting me begging for me to get up and get her stuff. I panicked and thought “Could I be pregnant.” I nearly had heart failure. Luckily, it was a flu bug!!!! :worship

Sounds like a strange bug you have there. It could be an ear problem too. I really like that poem. I’ve recieved it before in an email.
    I’m glad you posted it.

  5. James came down with the exact same thing Saturday. Very strange.

  6. Well since James was sick too, I guess that answered the being pregnant question for you, huh?! Glad you’re feeling better.

I love the poem, too. I’ve shared that with my ladies bible study group and Sunday School class.

I feel bad–we’ve had a busy day and when I tried to call my dear sis on her birthday, her line was busy. So Trish, know that I was thinking of you today. Hope you had a great day–know that you are loved!! :birthday :flowers

  7. Debbie, I think you e-mailed me this poem quite a while back and I saved it.

I hope Trish had a really good day even though she had to work. :love

  8. Julie, that bug is still going around up here.A couple bus driver have been out cause of it. I loved the verses and poem. Thanks. When I read my Bible it always makes me feel better. Hope you are feeliing better. :puke :puke :puke

  9. Great poem! I really like that. Glad you guys are all on the mend. Love your new ride and enjoyed taking a spin in it with the boys last night!

  10. Yes, I LOVE our new Suburban. I tried to talk James into letting me have it for the day!! :rotfl He is excited to do running around for work in it. Did I mention that I love it!!!! It is a black ’99 Chevy Suburban!!! I haven’t gotten to drive it much yet. I think I’ll have to fight James for it. Well, it’s a shop truck so I probably won’t be driving it much. We are taking it on our trip though!!!!!

  11. I take it we will be seeing a post on the shopping for this new ride. 😉

  12. Deb, sorry we spoiled your chance to talk to Trish, we were probably talking to her when you called. I made her & Sarah a fluffy pillow case and Sarah used hers for a sleeping bag. My Radio handle used to be Suburban Lady, so I pass it on to you Julie, when and if you get to drive it. :rolleyes

  13. I haven’t taken a single pic yet. Can you believe that? Karen and I are trying to really enjoy our last Mother’s Day Out days. The program ends with the school year. We went shopping today!!! We went to Claire’s and bought cheap jewlery!! I tried on this cowgirl hat and Karen said I just HAD to buy it. I like taking her shopping with me!!!! :rotfl I am now a cowgirl with a truck! :rotfl James wasn’t as impressed with the cowgirl hat as we were!! I think I’ll have a picture taken with my new truck and my cowgirl hat!!! :rotfl

Fuzzy pillowcases sound fun! Were they pink?

  14. Suburban Lady—-cool!

  15. Sounds like a fun post. Can’t wait. I don’t to get to just go shopping for the fun of it any more. Been a long time, except with all of us in June. Oh well, need to save my money.

  16. This feels like such a wonderful time in my life. I haven’t shopped much in the past eight years or so. I’ve been so busy taking care of babies. Which I absolutely loved doing, by the way. But now I am ready to do other fun things and update my wardrobe. I am having so much fun!! We had a blast buying accessories today. Haven’t really splurged on accessories since high school!!! Too bad I got rid of all my 80’s beads and hoop earings. They are back in style again. :eek
I had to get some jewelry to go with my thrift store finds. :evil

  17. Tootsie, hopefully we’ll get ya out and shopping in June! No doubt you deserve your breaks in a big way. :indeed

  18. I do need to go on a shopping spree. I feel it deep down in my poor old aching bones, I think that is whats wrong with me. :cry :cry I found Cho covered RASPBERRY sticks at WALMART today too. 😀 Did’nt get any, because I bought to many cho covered COFFEE BEAN candies. :evil :rotfl
oh my :eek this stuff is making me crazy 😉

  19. I swapped with one of the girls and had my birthday off and worked today. So I spent my birthday being lazy then we went shopping and I got a beautiful white gold bangle bracelet (yes Deb “Ramsey”, he paid cash he saved up) Aren’t you proud. I love it. I bought a Tiffany & Co silver bangle bracelet a while ago, so this looks pretty with it. I told Chris I can’t look good in clothes right now, can’t stand pretty shoes right now, so I’ll have great looking arms.

  20. Julie, Kathy and I have cowboy hats too. Should we all where them to Tennessee? Did you see the picture Deb or someone in Tenn. took of me with my hat on? I also have cowboy boots and cowboy shirt with horses on it to match Butch’s. Wow! I’m glad you finally get to go shopping again. My girlfriend Linda and I go sometimes and when Jackie and I drive two buses will dump the kids and go shop. Fun

PINK!!!! YOU BET!!!! The back is pink with little white hearts & the fleecy part was like a garden with angels. I can’t find a hat that looks good on me but I have the outfit and boots. I had 3hrs to go shopping last week and all I did was walk around inside the Mall. Couldn’t muster up any interest in shopping. :cry

  22. Aunt Marilyn May 2, 2006 at 8:23 pm

I just talked to MOM (Gma Vera) she said to tell you all that she is climbing the walls and jumping out of her skin. She said the Dr. gave her a new med. she is miserable. CAn’t sit still, jumpy, etc. To please pray for her. :cry

  23. Aunt Marilyn May 2, 2006 at 8:26 pm

Oh, and she told Kathy and she said not to take any more. I think she had quit anyway. Couldn’t stand them.

  24. Jules, I can’t believe James didn’t love your hat!! :cry. It just so completely suits you! No joke everyone – that hat was made for Jules’ head. (Like those boots were made for walkin’!) I’m glad you got it! Tom commented on my new bracelets and my “fishing lure” earrings. They do look like the little spinners. I had so much fun today!! It was so needed and I can’t wait to wear my new Thrift store stuff. It’s all washed and ready now.

  25. Hey all, the med. Muma was taking was Reglan, It dosen’t usually make people nervous but it does Muma. I told her we need to let Dr. Deaton know , she might can take something else for her stomach. How did ya’ll get to talking about cowboy hats? I love mine but Joes not crazy about it, I don’t look as good as Linda does in hers. I just got off the phone with Jared, he works @ a little coffee shop close to N, he said he’d bring us some choc. covered coffee beans from there, its a quaint little place, it sells local artists paintings and jewelry, thats were I sell some of my jewelry, its in a ritzy side of town.Oh I have cowboy boots too, I wear them quite often, I got them at a used shoe and boot place in M. later lovey,s

  26. I don’t know what to wear with my cowboy hat. We should all get our pictures taken in T. with our cowboy hats on. That would be so fun. I’ll bring mine!!

I don’t have any cowboy boots. Would I like them? I don’t know? What should I wear with my cowboy hat? I bought a pair of big round brownish bronze earrings to wear with it.

I hope that medicine is out of Grandma’s system.

The bangle bracelets sound fun. No doubt your arms are to die for! When I was prego, I loved having my toes painted with rhinestones on them. I had to have one part of my body that felt real pretty!

  27. Jules, you can wear your cowboy hat with blue jeans, casual skirts[ long or short] almost any kind of casual shorts, you can wear boots with the same things, I love my boots, I got them second hand and they were broke in good, I liked them to look abit worn, maybe we can find you some down here if you don’t find some there, yee haw, a shopping trip fur sure, we gonna get that girl some boots, just like auntie Kathryn’s, reckon? 😀 Trish, you know you love jewelry weather your prego. or not, you little stinker. Trish when you come I’ll do your toe nails, maybe a pretty pink.Deb, do you remember when we all went to Gulf Shores and you were the only one of us girls that did’nt have your toe nails painted? We were all too embarrased to be seen with your feet :rotfl ,just kidding ya’ll, but I did get those rascals painted up purty like 😀 . well Joes a callin gatta go. later lovey’s

  28. I’d like that! I’ll wait and let you help me pick out a pair. Where would I wear them? When and wear do you wear your boots? How fun!

  29. You just can’t give old people reglan. It makes them go nuts. It’s really great for younger peoples stomachs though. Does she have stomach problems too? Lord help her.

  30. Yeah, Gma has reflux so for anybody keeping a medical history of the family, add that to your list. She’s had that for a while…she REALLY didn’t like it at Thanksgiving when we propped the head of her bed up on bricks. Said she felt like she was sliding downhill, but her reflux is better.

Doc put her on reglan after this last stomach problem while she was in the hospital. Is there something else that she may tolerate better? Or maybe she’ll be OK without–she’s on Nexium already.

Sounds like you all are gonna have a boot-skootin good time. Yee haw!

  31. And Aunt Kathryn, you neglected to tell everyone that I was the only one on that Gulf Shores trip with a one year old child. Geez–painted nails…I was lucky to get packed for that trip in the first place! But thanks for doing up my nails when we got there. I keep up with it now all by myself! Aren’tcha proud? 😀

  32. WOW–Julie, you’re fast. I just asked you to fix something wrong in my last post and BOOM, it’s done already. Uh, could you fix my dirty dishes problem that fast please?! 😉

  33. Deb, havin a child does’nt get you off the hook, you little poop head. 😀 BLESS IT’S HEART. I go see a neurosurgeon Fri.,Joe’s goin with me, if I don’t like or trust him I’m goin to one in Nashville, Justin and Kiki says Iam anyhow, we’ll see what he thinks. Jules I wear my boots everywhere, Wal-Mart,shopping, casual resturants, Kelli’s ,freinds ,family houses, anywhere casual.Trish, Muma was having sever epigastric pain when she was in the E.R., they gave her Reglan I.V., it helped her alot, but after taking it a couple of days it started making her nervous. Dyou think maybe Carafate QID would help? I gotta go, later lovey’s

  34. Aunt Marilyn May 3, 2006 at 8:17 pm

I wear my boots dancing, to church under dress pants or long skirt, where ever I want to if I think they will look ok. Kathryn, I’ve never seen you with boots on, is this a new thing? Mom told me about your back problems last night. Hope all goes well and you find just the right person to fix it. :(

  35. Richard was having stomach aches everynight after supper and hard time swallowing or keeping food down. They did a endoscope (I think that is what it was called) found little irritation is all, but put him on Carafate. He takes 4 pills a day about an hour before meals and he is’nt stuffing down rolaids any more. He notices a differance.

I polish my nails, but I don’t wear boots. Thongs.
I have company from Chicago, Richards nephew and his wife, they have went to bed and I’m heading there real soon. Catch ya all later.

  36. By the way Jules, Kathy, who is visiting us, loves Maya, and run a copy of her poem off to take home. So again thanks for that lovely poem.

  37. Jules, I’m still waiting for the pic of you in the hat in the new Suburban! 😀

  38. Hey all, Kelli called me about 4:30 this morn , Muma was having that epigastric pain again and her B.P. was running high, she also could’nt sleep, so I went out to see what reading I could get on her B.P., it was running ave. about 200/110,Kelli had gave her one of her B.P. pills and some GELUSIL for her stomach before I got there,so when I got there we gave her some Maalox also and I kept cheching her B.P., it finally started to come down, so I layed down and slept for awhile. When I woke up she was feeling a bit better and got up and moved around some but her stomach still hurt some and ahe did’nt want to eat, I had her take her A.M. meds. and I remembered she had some Phenegan so I gave her one and shes slept most of the day, when she woke up this evening she said her stomach felt much better,I had called her Dr. this morn and he said to stop her Nexium and start her on Carafate 4 times a day and see if that helped her more than the Nexium. Kelli or I or Deb will keep ya’ll up to date. later lovey’s .Oh, my hair looks great, Joe loves it too.
