In the last several years, while meeting and spending time with people who have become inordinately successful, I have observed several common traits among them. Two of those traits stand out. One is they have a calling, which they have discovered and are implementing. The other is they have made mountains of mistakes in the process of becoming “successful.” The gleaming mountain of success is actually a pile of trash–a pile of the mistakes we have made. The difference between the successful and the troubled is not error-free living; it is that by discovering and implementing a life calling, the successful stand on their pile of trash while the troubled sit under theirs.   — Dave Ramsey, 48 Days To The Work You Love

  1. How very very true!!! I hope to stand on my pile of error-filled, mistakes of trash as I move forward in my life and my calling!

  2. The mistakes are easy–it’s figuring out the calling that’s the hard part.

  3. That is the hard part!!!! Unfortunately the mistakes are easy.

James and I have figured out our callings – at least for now. My heart is my family and home. I could give the rest of my life to those things and be satisfied.

James is definitely called to be a business man. That’s a tough calling!!!!! There are lots of opportunities to make mistakes. He has spent a lot of time beating himself up over them, but he’s beginning to realize that all successful people have made their share. This post was for him. I know he will have success and that mistakes are part of the journey to the top of the trash heap, er, I mean mountain!

James has a wonderful personality to be a great business man, husband & father. You make a wonderful Mom, wife & homemaker. What a wonderful calling. Mistakes are part of learning, thank God. I know I’ve made mine.

  5. My Aunt Punkie did a super nice birthday post for me. I want to share it with my friends. It’s nice when someone says encouraging things about you.

Thanks, Auntie. I just stopped by and saw it.

  6. I agree with Mosker. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but not sure what my calling is. I know I’ve been following Gods call to help others at times. My mountain got awful tall, and hope I don’t fall off and harm anyone.
I really like the saying on my blog.

  7. That is a good quote you have on your blog!

“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to an all-knowing God.”

  8. I had just went back to my blog to get the exact wording and you beat me to it. Thanks.

I got sidetracked, Kandi just called and shes going immediately to the ER. She has had a arm ache for awhile and today they did a thrumbosis and it was not good . If it breaks loose it could kill her. Lord God look after my baby. I got to go.

  9. Oh dear!!! I will definitely be praying for God’s protection and healing — starting now!

  10. Kandi is ok. It was just a scare.

  11. I must of scared everyone away. Sorry. Come on everyone, come back to Jules blog.

  12. Julie!
