there’s nothing sweeter than a happy girl

Jules —  July 6, 2006

We took our sweet, playful, happy-go-lucky, Elaina Joy to get her ears pierced Friday evening. We had a delightful time!!!

She had this look on her face for at least three hours! She couldn’t wait to leave the house. She skipped around all afternoon in excited anticipation. Once we finally arrived at Claire’s and got her seated in the piercing chair, she just kept bouncing and smiling!

Of course, we had to do a little shopping! Elaina picked out a pair of pink monkey earrings!

  1. She just loves walking up to me and asking me to comment on how cute her earrings look.

  2. Oh !what we women go through to be beautiful. She sure looks happy.

  3. Priceless! You can see the thrill on her little face. How sweet. Can’t wait to take Missy Moo someday!

    Monkey earrings. . how fitting.

  4. How sweet and darling she is. She is so proud. I’m happy for her. She will remember this day forever, as all us girlies do. 😀 :angel

  5. Hurray for Elaina!

  6. I remember the anticipation when I got my belly button pierced…

  7. Yes, Tom, and you picked out a monkey ring to go in it too. :fish

  8. Tom, I am disappointed that you have quit wearing half shirts.

  9. Elaina was so cute the other day when she ran up to show us that her ears had been pierced. It was so fun to watch her preen.

  10. She LOVES attention!!!!!

  11. It’s funny how putting a piece of metal through our ears can make us girls feel so pretty–but it does!
    Elaina looks so happy!

Just wanted to let y’all know that Dad’s surgery went OK this morning and the surgeon was pleased with the results. He’s in recovery now. Thanks for praying and please pray as he goes through the tough recovery time. His first knee still hurts when he first gets up after sitting so he will probably have pain in both knees for a while.

  12. Hey Jules, have’nt heard much out of you. How’s that throat feeling by now? Hope no one else has it, although you all seem to share very easily.

Don’t forget, tomorrow everyone has to get their ice cream makers out and celebrate :birthday to GRANDPA LINFORD

  13. Glad to hear that the surgery went well. I really feel for him. It sounds so painful. We will be praying for a quick recovery.

My throat is fine! Nobody else got it. I am very thankful for that.

I wish I had an ice cream maker.

  14. What a sweet face! I love that big happy smile!

*Julie, I second the disappointment in Tom no longer wearing the half shirts. Tube-tops are back, and I think Tom needs to give them a second try. Karen could probably be safe in one as well… since she no longer owns a cat-LOL! (*Just a little inside joke)

  15. Yes, good point, Amber. Although Karen may want to continue to stay away from them. I would not want to hold a one year old while wearing a tube top!!! Tom, on the other hand, has no excuse.

  16. OK, OK, I guess I’l give Karen a “pass” this time. I didn’t think about the one year old aspect…that’s probably worse than the cat!

So, I guess Tom still has no excuse.

  17. I’m not following most of this conversation as I’m not on the “inside” of these jokes (which is probably a GOOD thing!), but I do know that a tube top on a guy….EWWWWWWWWW! :puke

Jules, just wanted to say “hey” and hope you’re all over that nasty strep! Hi, everyone else!

  18. Um…does Tom really have his belly button pierced? Just had to ask.

  19. I am feeling great. Thanks. The summer has been going too quickly. It’s been a good one. I don’t feel like there’s enough time in my day to get things done.

I sure hope he doesn’t have a belly ring!!!!

  20. Glad to hear you’re doing better. I agree with you, Julie, the summer is going fast. I’m just now getting to my “spring” cleaning. I’ve determined I’m cleaning and de-cluttering every room in this house before school starts up. It drains me to have a cluttered house. Once Scouts and school starts up, I just get farther and farther behind. So I’m going to try to start fresh and in order. Pray for me to be persistent as it’s easy for me to slack off and not keep my own promises to myself. I really MUST de-clutter (mostly papers…and dust!)

Phew…I’m relieved that it seems Tom doesn’t have a belly ring. He’s a funny guy, but I was hoping he hadn’t gone that far!

  21. Anyone seen pickles?? :eek :rotfl :evil

  22. Debbie, I am trying to do the same thing. I have been going through the play room and girls’ rooms trying to get rid of stuff. I have thinned things out quite a bit.

I plan on doing that to the whole house. Although, James and I don’t seem to collect clutter like the kids.

I rarely dust. It’s last on my list of important things to do. I hope to get the whole house dusted over the next few weeks.

  23. Steve, Connor and I’ve been having headaches a lot lately. They stopped when we were at Mom and Dad’s, but started back up when we got home. I decided maybe it was allergies to our local pollen…or maybe I REALLY needed to get to that “spring” cleaning and get some dust and pollen out of the house. I dust…when company’s coming! So I guess that would have been….Mother’s Day weekend?! True Confessions of the Lazy Duster! :oops

  24. You get it honesty, I hate to dust but did before you came. Didn’t want you to sleep in a dusty bed.

  25. She is to precious!! I bet she feels like such a big girl now. I’m telling you she reminds me so much of me as a little girl. Looks so much like me it’s scary. :-) Hope your all doing well.

  26. Elaina looks thrilled about the experience! She’s just adorable- can’t wait to see her soon. :-)

  27. Hey Megan. Good to hear from you!

Sarah, we can’t wait to arrive in Colorado! The girls have a pic of you and Rob on the wall in their room!

  28. Iam back!!!!! My laptop has been :puke I have missed seeing Julies blogs.
Well Elaina has kept up with the older sisters having her ears look so special like theirs.

Glad to see all the pictures again of the fam.

  29. Glad to have you back!

Fortunately you haven’t missed much. My blogging has come to a near stand still this summer.
